4th Annual Central Vermont Employment Law Summit

Rutland, Vermont-- Ryan Smith & Carbine, Ltd., one of Vermont’s oldest and largest law firms and the Greater Rutland Area Personnel Executives have announced the 4th Annual Central Vermont Employment Law Summit. This year’s half day conference will be held on Monday June 5, 2006 beginning at 8am at the Holiday Inn in Rutland, Vermont.

“Ryan Smith & Carbine, Ltd. is pleased that we could coordinate with an organization like GRAPE to present the 4th Annual Central Vermont Employment Summit,” says Andrew H. Maass, a partner at the firm. “In the first three years of the conference we have offered training on employment and related issues to over 250 local and regional employers. We have been fortunate to have guest speakers that included the Commissioner of the Department of Labor, Insurance Adjusters who handle Vermont Workers’ Compensation Claims and others. ”

This year’s conference will cover four specific topics and include the always popular question and answer session. The topics to be covered include: Pay Issues For Hourly Employees; The Aging Workforce, Challenges and Opportunities; Preparing for Your Comp Insurance Renewal; Shortening the Disability Period, Ideas for Employers. Presentations will be made by Andrew H. Maass, Esq., and John Valente, Esq., both Directors of Ryan Smith & Carbine, Ltd.. Mr. Maass has been practicing law with a focus on employment and labor law for the past 20 years. He offers counsel to a number of Vermont’s largest employers. He received his B.A. degree from St. Lawrence University and his J.D. degree from New England School of Law. Mr. Valente has been practicing law with a focus on workers’ compensation and employment related issues for the past 15 years. He is a frequent lecturer on workers’ compensation issues for national, regional and local organizations. He received his B.A. degree from Boston College and his J.S. degree cum laude, from Suffolk University School of Law.
