APPELLATE PRACTICE / CIVIL LITIGATION / PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Mr. Keyes is an experienced appellate practitioner. He briefs and argues appeals before the Vermont Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as dispositive motions before state and federal trial courts. In addition to handling appeals, he works with other lawyers at the trial level to solve problems in complex civil litigation, and gives advice about pleading, civil procedure, legal strategy, and matters of professional responsibility. Mr. Keyes is risk manager for the firm. He has extensive experience in insurance coverage matters. He is a longtime Member of the Vermont Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Civil Rules and recently spearheaded the complete revision and modernization of the Vermont Rules of Appellate Procedure. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
Mr. Keyes has received Martindale-Hubbell, Inc.'s highest "AV" rating.
